Sesame~Til~Ellu Ladoo

Sesame seeds ladoo is one of my favourites...(i love to eat them any time...) Black Beauty
Ingredients for making Ellu~Sesame~Til Ladoo:
  • Sesame Seeds - 4 cups (check for impurities)
  • Cashew Nuts broken into small pieces (few to garnish)
  • Brown Sugar or Jaggery - 1 1/2 cups
  • water - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom - 4

Method for making Sesame Seeds Ladoo :

Step 1: Heat a Deep Pan and Dry roast the Sesame Seeds in medium heat . ( i have used black sesame , can use the lighter coloured sesame also)Once its nicely roasted, remove from heat and keep it aside to cool.

Step 2: In another vessel add the jaggery(powdered) or brown sugar and water and heat in medium heat. Let it boil till the syrup consistency becomes thread like (for making ladoos).

Step 3: Powder Cardamom Seeds and add it to the Jaggery syrup and mix nicely and remove from heat.

Step 4: Add the Roasted Sesame Seeds, Cashew nuts to the jaggery syrup and mix well.

Step 5: Keep the mixture aside, let it cool down .

Step 7: Then make small round shaped ladoos out of the mixture.

Sesame Seeds (Til,Ellu) Ladoo is ready to serve...

Love these. I buy bags of them at my Indian grocer, but I didn't realize they were pretty easy to make. : ) Sometimes cooking sugar can be very challenging. Can I buy jaggery already powdered? Or do I need to crush the cubes I have?

hi rashmi thanks for your lovely comment no dear they wont taste sweet because we use green chillies so that spice dominates the little sweetness

Dear Rashmi, The rustic title of your blog attracted my attention and here I am. Black sesame is not something I have used much and am fascinated to see this seemingly quick and easy recipe – though I am sure this is something you have practised to perfection. Cheers!
